Collage Canvas

Monday, June 21st, 2010

A few weeks ago, we started offering a new product called a Collage Canvas.  This is a great product to show off a variety of your favorite photos from a session or wedding all in one place.  Kim and Mike decided they’d get one for their home.

New Wall Art for Our Home

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Kevin and I went to an art festival put on by Stookey Companies out at Valley West Mall this weekend.  Kevin and I like to attend this show every year.  We love talking to the artists every year and hearing about how they create their art.  This year I ended up finding a beautiful bracelet that Kevin got me as a Valentine’s Day gift and got a photo of a pretty water lily as a Christmas gift for my friend (I like to shop throughout the year when I see things for my loved ones, not just after Thanksgiving).

Kevin and I fell in love with a painting created by N.D Gordon.  I love horses and we love how the movement is shown in the brushstrokes.  Also we love how the bright colors show how lively and fun the horses are.  Kevin got it for me as an early Christmas gift.  Here’s how it looks above our mantle:

Mandy and Zack’s Wall Portraits

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Kevin and I have decided that something new we will blog about is showing how our client’s portraits look on their walls.  Wall portraits really personalize your home and can enhance your decor.  We have started offering Wild Sorbet Frames this Fall and our clients love them.  They are hand crafted and hand painted and come in over 100 colors.

Earlier this week, we went to Zack and Mandy’s house to hang their wall portraits in their hallway.  They had chosen the Triplett frames, which come in a set of 3, and chose 1 photo of each of their kids and one family photo.  They chose to have them hung in their hallway where their loved ones can see them as they enter their home or when they go up to the second floor.

We love the colors that Zack and Mandy chose!  Don’t they look great?

Tip: Saving for Photography (or anything else)

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I have heard of this site before, but I came across it again today and thought up a new tip for its use.

Its called “Smarty Pig” and the idea is that it works like a savings account, but the cool thing is that you set a goal – let’s say for wedding photography from your favorite photographer (Barber Photography, right? ;-) ) – you can then have your family and friends (who will soon become better friends) help contribute to that goal. Just like a banking account, you earn interest (I think it is like 3.9% right now – kinda hard to beat).

Now you can rest assured that you don’t have to settle for less than what you really want in your photography.

Yes, technically, it DOES work for other things besides photography, but just think how many years you’ll be enjoying that custom-designed wedding album, or beautiful framed canvas family portrait!

It is also worth pointing out that Smarty Pig is also based right here out of Des Moines!

If you’ve used Smarty Pig or a similar thing before, please, leave a comment and tell me what you think of it – or do you have any other creative ideas for it?
