I made this image a few years ago when Kindra took me on a picnic and “photo safari” for my birthday. It has been sitting on the computer for all this time, but to really make it “pop” I used some creative settings in Lightroom.

Fine Art Friday: A Stream of Flowers

If all goes according to plan, I’ll be traveling sometime around when this post actually shows up. But I am keeping the new tradition of “Fine Art Friday”… and on a Friday the 13th, too!

This week’s photo comes from a trip I took late this spring to Northern Minnesota, this was done at Enger Park in Duluth. I spotted many of these flowers (someone can inform me what they are) and really liked how the light, filtering through the trees, highlighted this one string of flowers.

Fine Art Friday: Old Farm Truck

Since “Photo of the Day” was a flop, I’m going to try something a little less ambitious and attempt to do “Fine Art Friday” where I choose a fine art photo that Kindra or I have created and post it on the blog.

To kick it off, I’ll start with an image I created while on location at a farm west of Des Moines (west of Adel, more specifically) for Genevieve and Caroline’s Grins and Giggles Session.

I’m a sucker for texture (rust) and old cars and farm equipment.

Yesterday we went over to Legal Technology Services and hung a couple of our fine art prints in their office. We love how this one looked on their wall. We’re excited to be decorating their office more in the upcoming months.

Photo a Day 2010: Day 1: New Year’s Ball

We are going to attempt a new challenge for us for 2010 we will call the “Photo a Day Project” where we will try to create and post a new photograph every day of the year. To kick it off, Kevin created this abstract photograph to resemble the New Year’s Ball that is dropped in Times Square.

Amazing Light Paintings

I have played with “painting with light” in the past, but this really takes it to a new level – I saw these images posted on a blog the other day and thought I would share. See the original post here.

Light paintings, also known as light drawing or light graffiti, is a photography technique in which exposures are usually made at night or in a darkened room. The images we are featuring here are from Jan Wöllert and Jörg Miedza, the guys behind LAPP-PRO. The light art performance photography (briefly LAPP) is a one-shot, long time bulb exposure photography, performed additionally with movement of light. LAPP originates on a real-time basis directly in front of the camera, created between opening and closing the shutter.
