Chris, Christy, Drew and Kati

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

About a month ago, we photographed Chris and Christy’s family in Sioux City. Christy had an idea of having the session in this beautiful park that a lot of the outdoor wedding ceremonies are held. Kevin and I immediately loved the location and we had so much fun capturing this family. Here is a slideshow of some of our favorites.

Harvey Family Wall Portraits

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

Last week, we went to the Harvey’s home to hang their wall portraits and loved the area they chose in their home to display their portraits. These hallways that are shown are right when you enter the family’s home so everyone who enters their home will know just how important family is to them. They chose a combination of gallery wrapped canvases and stand out mount wall portraits which complimented each other well in style.

After we hung the portraits, the Harveys invited us to join them for dinner which made for a very fun night.  We have felt so welcomed by this family and have really enjoyed working with them.

These 3 gallery wrapped canvas display is what we call an Aspen.  They are great for long walls like this where you’d like to show a combination of your favorite photos.

About a month or two ago, we just began offering these collage wall portraits and they have been very popular.  The Harveys chose to do stand out mount photos of each of their daughters’ families and a canvas of all the grandchildren.

Our Maternity Photos

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

A few weeks ago, Mark Hommerding of Jolesch Photography photographed a maternity session for us. We had wanted a fun session with urban backgrounds and Mark did a wonderful job capturing exactly what we want. We think he did an amazing job and we’re so pleased with the photos. Here are some of our favorites.

Charlotte’s Grins and Giggles Session

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

We had another fun filled session with Charlotte.  We went down to the East Village and also went to a park with a carousel.  Kevin and I were amazed at some of Charlotte’s expressions this session.  She looked like a little model.  She’s at such a fun age right now and we loved watching her discover the world. Here’s a slideshow of some of our favorites from Charlotte’s Grins and Giggles Session.  Can’t wait for her next session this Fall!

Harvey Family Session

Monday, July 12th, 2010

About a month ago, we photographed the Harvey family out at their house in the country.  We felt so welcomed by the family and had so much fun with them.  We loved exploring all the cool locations at their house such as a barn that Bill had built himself, a wooded area where their daughter had gotten married, and a beautiful vineyard that Bill and Michele had enjoyed growing grapes and making wine together over the years.  We really enjoyed getting to know the family better and seeing how meaningful of a place Bill and Michele’s home is to all of them.  Thanks Bill and Michele for welcoming us into your home and being so great to work with.

Genevieve and Caroline’s Grins and Giggles Session

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

About a month ago, we photographed this family out at Thomas’ parents farm.  Despite the cold day, we had a lot of fun exploring the farm and Genevieve introduced us to all the animals.  It was also great that Grandma and Grandpa got to be a part of the day too and play with the kids.

Genevieve loves cats.  All day long, she was chasing this cat around.  It was adorable.  We love this photo because we managed to get her and the cat in the same photo and she didn’t even realize it.

A cute photo of Grandpa and Caroline.

Genevieve is a natural poser and did this for us all by herself.  It is amazing that a 2 year old is so confident in front of the camera.  Jenny and Thomas told me a funny story about how when they got an ultrasound photo of Genevieve, she turned her head in perfect profile for them for the photo.  Even in the womb, Genevieve was working it for photos!

Love this one of Thomas and Genevieve.

Such a sweet moment between Jenny and Caroline.

Caroline is following in her sister’s footprints in being photogenic.  She gave us the biggest smiles all day.  It was adorable.  Thomas and Jenny are lucky to have such cute daughters that are so great in front of the camera.  Thanks Thomas and Jenny for being so great to work with and we’re really looking forward to capturing Caroline’s first birthday party this Fall!

Maternity Session

Friday, May 21st, 2010

A rare look at the photographers behind Barber Photography.  We wanted to show Courtney some tricks on how we do lighting on-location and we also needed some maternity photos for a shower invite we are going to be creating within the next week so we got some maternity photos taken earlier than most couples get them done.  We love the photos Courtney created for us.

On this one, we were joking around and saying “the baby’s in there.”

This is one of my favorite ones.  We look so relaxed.

This is a reflection of us in the water.

This is my other favorite photo from the session.  It’ll be a hard decision to choose what one we’ll end up using on our couple’s shower invite.  The only challenge we had on this session was that since I’m only 22 weeks along, I don’t have that big of a bump yet so we have to try to find ways to make the bump look bigger.  We’re hoping to have another maternity session in July when I’m bigger, in case we want a wall portrait for the nursery.   This has been such an exciting time in our lives and we’re so excited to meet our little boy in the Fall.  Thanks Courtney for taking these great photos of us!

Grins and Giggles Skyscraper

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Mandy and Zack chose this cute Skyscraper to display their photos from their children’s last Grins and Giggles Session.  A Skyscraper is a 5×30 inch piece of photographic art we can design either horizontally or vertically.  This is a great way to display photos in most family’s homes because you don’t need a big wall to hang it on.  We love the Skyscraper that Mandy and Zack chose so much we think we’re going to order one for our studio wall!

Vincent and Lila’s Grins and Giggles Session

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

About a month ago, we photographed Vincent and Lila’s Grins and Giggles Session.  Since there was still snow on the ground, we decided to go to the Botanical Center.

Vincent was throwing coins into the pond here.  He probably could’ve done this all day if we would’ve let him (and had enough money).

Love this sweet moment between Zack and Lila.  It seems like parents always know just what to do to make their child smile.

So cute!

Lila is such a happy, smiley baby.

This was such a funny moment.  It looks like she’s a little teenager here.

Charlotte’s Grins and Giggles Session

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

We had Charlotte’s Grins and Giggles Session about a month ago.   2 year olds are so much fun!  Despite the cold temperatures, we found a lot to do.

Charlotte was in this tutu for almost the whole session.   She loved it.  I suspect we have a future ballerina.

Love this sweet moment between Andy and Charlotte as he read to her.

Sarah and Andy have a great sledding hill in their backyard so we made sure to take advantage of that.  Since the Olympics were going on at the time, Charlotte called it luging.

Kevin and I have been wanting to get a photo of the Sarah and Andy’s allusive cat, Lucy, for a year and a half.  Kevin and I both managed to snap 1 picture of her at this moment.  Sarah and Andy said they can’t remember the last photo they got of her.  We’re glad we were able to reach our goal!

We are looking forward to a fun Summer session with Charlotte.
